Legislation Proposed to Protect Gas Stoves

Energy Department would be blocked from implementing the new policy.

Representative Debbie Lesko of Arizona introduced HR 1640, the Save our Gas Stoves Act, this week before the House of Representatives. The bill would block the federal government’s banning or regulating gas stove use in American households.

The Department of Energy is in the process of finalizing its Energy Policy and Conservation Program, and the bill would stop that work, not allowing its implementation or enforcement.

Representative Lesko stated that the agency’s proposed rules represent “another example of out-of-touch bureaucrats trying to control Americans’ everyday lives..”

Representative Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota also introduced a bill known as the Gas Stove Preservation and Freedom Act, HR 1615, which would ban the Consumer Product Safety Commission from using federal funds to prohibit gas stove use. Of his bill, Representative Armstrong said, “Our bill makes it clear that Americans should decide if a gas stove is right for their families, not the federal government.”

The two bills are expected to gain approval in the House, but it is unclear if either will find support among the majority in the Senate.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For members of Congress as they seek to protect Americans’ ability to use gas stoves.
  • For the secretary and personnel of the Energy Department as they pursue the reduction of carbon emissions.
